WASH and Election 2016 in Ghana - NLLAP 56

The 56th edition of the National Level Learning Alliance Platform (NLLAP 56) highlighted for attention a number of key learning points– the need to rethink partnership with communities leading the agenda; work with communities to create a neutral structured platform to lead the setting of their own agenda; provide up-to-date evidence and its implication for the wider development; and widen the base and make a compelling case for inclusive participation among target communities, etc.

These were some of the learning points that came up at NLLAP 56, which took in Accra on August 25 on the theme, “Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Election 2016 in Ghana”.

This edition featured Water Aid Ghana who led the discussion on the above theme, which aims at making WASH a key political/campaign issue in the 2016 national elections; and also to solicit support for its implementation and to collectively discuss the way forward in ensuring the success of the campaign for improved WASH prioritization in Ghana.

Over 80 stakeholders from government institutions, civil society, development practitioners, development partners, and private sector, media and the water users from constituencies participated in the learning event.

NLLAP is a multi-stakeholder platform that offers learning and sharing opportunity as a practical approach to promoting vibrant sector discourse/ learning/innovation. It is organized by the WASH Resource Centre Network (RCN) in collaboration with the WD-MWRWH/ EHSD-MLGRD and Partners. NLLAP usually takes place on the last Thursday of every month; and open to all interested parties.
