Overwhelming visits to RCN exhibition stand at NESCON 2011

In order to meet the Millennium Development  Goal (MDG) on environmental sanitation , access to adequate information has been said to be an important component. This among others could be responsible for the overwhelming visits to the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Resource Centre Network (RCN) exhibition stand at the recently held National Environmental Sanitation Conference (NESCON), 6-9 December, 2011, in the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi

This among others could be responsible for the overwhelming visits to the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Resource Centre Network (RCN) exhibition stand at the recently held National Environmental Sanitation Conference (NESCON), 6-9 December, 2011, in the Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi.

The representative of his Royal Majesty, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Nana Darko Montwi II and Hon. Ofosu Ampofo, the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development jointly opened the NESCON 2011 exhibition.     Nana Darko Montwi II on his visit to the WASH-RCN stand, which stood out among the rest by way of setup mentioned that the contribution of the RCN is a good venture worthy of emulation in other sectors of the country.

The Visitors ranged from ministers including the Upper West Regional Minister, the Volta Regional Minister, Ashanti Regional Minister, the Deputy Minister for MLGRD among others. Others included traditional rulers, educational institutions, private sector practitioners, WASH stakeholders, government institutions among others. Information products displayed and disseminated included the Ghana WASH News,  which was a special edition of NESCON 2010; the WASH reflections, emerging from the monthly National learning alliance platform; books on sanitation from the IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre and information products from members of the network which are also available at the RCN website.

Other exhibitors at the conference included CHF international, Valley view University, the CLTS approach, Zoomlion Ghana limited, Politank Ghana limited among others.

The Resource Centre Network is a network of institutional partners seeking to promote Knowledge Management in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Sector in Ghana. The vision is a dynamic knowledge-driven WASH sector providing improved and sustainable pro-poor services.
