Ghana's 2014 SWA HLM Commitments

Ghana is set to announce its 2014 commitments at the third Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) High Level Meeting (HLM), which takes place on April 11, 2014 at the World Bank in Washington DC.

The 2014 Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) High Level Meeting (HLM), the third in the series, will be held on April 11, 2014 at the World Bank in Washington DC. This high level policy platform brings together ministers responsible for finance, water and sanitation from developing countries, ministers of development cooperation from donor countries, high-level representatives from development banks, and representatives of leading sanitation and water agencies to discuss and commit to improved access to sanitation and water for all. Ghana is set to present its 2014 commitments at the HLM.

In Ghana, the SWA Task Team working with WASH partners extensively engaged the sector in a series of High Level Commitments Dialogue (HLCD) in reviewing progress on the 2012 commitments, and undertaking sector analyses to identify bottlenecks and to develop the new and more ambitious commitments for the 2014 HLM.

The SWA Chair, H.E, John Kufuor, former President of Ghana and Deputy Secretary-General, Jan Eliasson in October 2013, congratulated Ghana on progress so far and encouraged the country to support their sector and finance ministers to attend the 2014 HLM.

Hon. Seth Terkper, Hon. Alhaji Collins Dauda and Hon. Akwasi Opong-Fosu, the respective Ministers responsible for finance, water and sanitation are set to lead and present Ghana’s 2014 commitments at this year’s SWA HLM.
