Abstract

NLLAP 50 took place on Thursday, 19th March, 2015 at the Cocnut Grove Hotel in Accra on the theme, “WASH and Health Lnkages: Healthy Start in Ghana“. The platform hosted WaterAid Ghana under a four year advocacy project called Healthy Start. A team of experts from WaterAid and partners shared on a range of issues relating to WASH-Health linkages - global and local efforts; the 2014 cholera outbreak and lessons. The Healthy Start project was also introduced to stakeholders in a thought-provoking fashion.
The main objective of NLLAP 50 was to present to stakeholders the focus of the Healthy Start programme – achieving improved child health and nutrition through advocacy for WASH integration into health policy and delivery at all levels; and also to jointly discuss the way forward in ensuring that healthcare facilities meet basic standards of clean water, sanitation and hygiene.
