Agona Swedru, July 26, GNA -The Norwegian Government has released 1.3 million dollars to Water Resources Commission (WRC) to support the establishment of a National Dam Safety Unit to regulate and ensure the proper utilization of water.
The Water Resources Commission has developed a Riparian Buffer Zone policy to develop and maintain buffers to conserve water bodies, Mr Enoch Teye Mensah, Minster of Water Resources, Works and Housing announced in Accra on Tuesday
The 23rd edition of the longest running annual Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector event in Ghana, the Mole Conference is scheduled to take place at Modern City hotel in the Northern Region of Ghana from August 7 - 11, 2012 on theme, Financing WASH service delivery; Past, Current and vision for the future ". The discussions will be led by the Ministry of finance who will give over view of the trends in financing WASH in Ghana.

A Director and senior engineer at the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA), Ms Charlotte Engman has attributed most endless meetings in the sector to inadequate capacities needed for some specific works to be done. She deemed this a serious threat to the general work output of the sector if a critical attention is not given to it. She said, there are a lot of officers in the various parts of the sector who may not possess the needed capacities/qualification in the performance of their duties.
“Let’s invite WASHTECH to apply the TAF tool on this Household Water Treatment and Storage(HWTS) technology (communities choices system) to determine whether it needs to be scaled up” This came up at the 26th edition of the National Learning Alliance Platform meeting, which recently took place in Accra on theme,Household Water Treatment and Storage Strategy in Ghana.
